A class for PASIC for novelists wishing to adapt their work for the screen. This is an accelerated overview of screenwriting geared towards writers already proficient in their craft who wish to learn about the transition from prose writing to screenwriting. The class is the deal of the century too, $20 for PASIC members, $30 for non-members, and that is about $350 cheaper than any other class of mine you can get into so if you have ever been curious about a Max class, I would jump on that if I were you. Deadline for registration is May 28th.

So, writing stuff —

Character Writing is now registering students. This is a six week online master class. It begins on July 13, 2010. The class is limited to 12 students so please register early if you wish to reserve a seat. More info is available at :::character:::.

The online workshop, 5150, has two chairs opening in June. 5150 is an advanced, online international workshop with an emphasis on peer review. The workshop is four years old. The workshop membership includes working writers as well as newcomers who exhibit exceptional talent and drive. For more info on the workshop visit :::5150:::.

The June PASIC online workshop “Accelerated Screenwriting : The Crash Course” is open for registration now through May 28th. This is a one month intensive screenwriting overview with an emphasis on adaptation for novelists. For more into on the PASIC workshop visit :::pasic:::.

celts? seriously?

 

A friend posted this photo. He is I guess a fan of the team. But I just sat there staring at it.

See. I am am a Celt. Granted, an American Celt. [An Italian friend totally makes fun of Americans for saying they are Italian or Celt or what not.] But that is my heritage. And not one guy in that photo is related to me.

But there they all are. Wearing “Celt” on their chests.

I kind of get suddenly why Native Americans are so pissed off about sports teams calling themselves the Chiefs.

It’s not so much about it being a blight or insult. It’s about taking your heritage and wearing it like it belongs to you when it belongs to someone else.

It’s not about color either. Those guys could all be white. But they aren’t God damned Celts.

Maybe it should be considered complimentary. That someone else thought your heritage was so cool he or she or the team wanted to wear it like a banner.

I do not think that works. That’s my heritage. If you want to wear it, at least put someone who owns it in the photo.

Put a Celt in there or give back the name.
