Here is THE rudest response to a query letter I have ever seen in my life.

To come up with a cool nickname that is sassy. It has to rhyme and be fun. Craig Ferguson is The Hot Mess from Loch Ness. Surely I can come up with something as good. I am a comedy writer.

Tragically my head got locked in on The Confused Lay from L.A.

It is like when you get a song stuck in your head I have not been able to get my brain out of that repeat.

birds are difficult

 

 

I took trash out —

At a freak early morning hour.

[This happens when I am up too late I get crazy about trash.]

Bird calls went out.

Bird calls are never something you can totally interpret. They are bird calls. And humans and birds do not think the same. But you get enough of the same bird calls saying the same thing? You have an idea.

The birds were saying I was out again. There was food.

This was of course wrong, I was taking out trash, not putting out bird food. Or very bird manipulative. [Do birds get guilt?] Because, after that call went out, I had to put out bird food. Also raven food because the ravens heard the sparrow call and started talking too.

Birds are difficult.

Non-Static Writing : 6 Week Workshop begins Tuesday March 9th 2010. This is an online 6 week advanced course on non-static writing taught by yours truly Max Adams. There is a reason movies are called “moving pictures.” Because they move. This course is about keeping those pictures moving within a script. Subjects include opening environments, using open and closed environments, moving characters within enclosed environments, using dialogue to create tension within closed environments, using and not using filters and — how to kill a scene in under five seconds with an electronic device.

Max Adams is the recipient of a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well as a recipient of Austin Film Festival’s screenwriting award. Her released films include Excess Baggage [credited] and The Ladykillers [uncredited]. Max has worked with Hollywood Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Universal, Tri-Star and Columbia Pictures. She is a former AFI Alumni reader and WGA online mentor as well as a current Nicholl reader and judge. She is the author of The Screenwriter’s Survival Guide; Or, Guerilla Meeting Tactics and Other Acts of War and is a 2010 recipient of the College of Fine Arts Distinguished Alumni Award from University of Utah. Her students and workshoppers include Nicholl Fellowship winners, Screenwriting Expo winners, Disney Fellowship winners, Warner Bros. competition winners and working and produced writers. the coffee gods hate me : part i

 

I cannot make coffee.

Maybe that is misleading.

I can “make” coffee. But, no one can drink it.

I tried for years too, to make coffee. Till the day I told a friend coming over, Oh cool I will try a new coffee thing.

She said, Max, if you make me try to drink your coffee again, I am not coming. I will stop at Starbucks on the way. What do you want?
