rage memory & cows
February 28, 2010
The other day I am on Twitter. I regularly am on Twitter and then get the hell off for a break because of stuff happening like this.
Someone is talking about rape. I post this link :
It is an essay about being abducted at 14, escaping, and the friend who did not escape — the friend who died.
After I post :::i’m still here::: this guy on Twitter starts sending me screaming messages “Milking Cows is Rape!”
I have no response to this. I ignore him. [It is the Southern way.]
His messages keep coming though, over and over again — “Milking cows is rape!”
I am starting to burn. I can feel it rising. Harsh. Angry. I hate this feeling. I wish I was Ghandi. I will never be Ghandi. And he, the cow guy, keeps coming.
I say, Are you comparing my friend’s murderer cutting her vagina out with a knife and stuffing it into her mouth to milking a cow?
Yes he is. “Milking cows is rape!”
That is when I say I want to maim him.
[It is a personality flaw, when I am enraged and want to maim someone, I just tell someone, I am enraged and want to maim you.]
A 17 year old girl went missing in San Diego Thursday. She is a long distance runner. An honor student. She tutors. They found her car. They did not find her. She has been missing over 36 hours. And every statement in the missing statements just says, “We want to bring her home.” I do not know if you know what that means. I do.
Chelsea has been missing from a San Diego park since Thursday, February 25. Please pass this on. You never know who saw something or can pass it on to someone who does know or did see something and can help.
Please help us find Chelsea. Her parents want to bring her home.
three seats left : non-static writing course:

Three seats left in Non-Static Writing.
Non-Static Writing | Begins March 9, 2010
Non-Static Writing : 6 Week Workshop begins Tuesday March 9th 2010. This is an online 6 week advanced course on non-static writing taught by yours truly Max Adams. There is a reason movies are called “moving pictures.” Because they move. This course is about keeping those pictures moving within a script. Subjects include opening environments, using open and closed environments, moving characters within enclosed environments, using dialogue to create tension within closed environments, and — how to kill a scene in under five seconds with an electronic device.
[You do not want to do that last one.]
Course fee is $270. Course length is 6 weeks. Seating is limited. Send email for course sign up to : courses @ seemaxrun.com

how fairy tales are written
February 17, 2010
The birds are singing outside. Hard. They throw their voices. I think, Are they actually on the balcony? I open the blinds. The bird actually on the balcony says, Oops! He scoots between metal barriers, aka balcony struts. I say, Oops! And slide away and shut the balcony door.
The birds are singing harder now. They beat the giant.
This is how fairy tales are written.

year of the tiger
February 13, 2010
It is Year of the Tiger. I am seeing all kinds of conflicting information about Year of the Tiger. Some people say it starts on Feb 4. Some people say it starts on Feb 14. Everyone says it is the metal tiger. Some people say the gold metal tiger. Some the white.
What everyone seems to agree on is, the tiger is brave, impetuous, quit witted, volatile and passionate.
It should be an interesting year.

fighting back from the abyss
February 9, 2010
Last year I hurt the shoulder.
Shoulder injuries are a total bitch. The last one took nine months to heal.
This one? Ten.
Shoulder injuries hurt too. I mean seriously hurt. And effect EVERYTHING. From sleeping to opening doors to trying to get dressed to trying to get undressed to just moving any body part connected to the upper torso — which is, hello, every body part.
For ten months I got to watch my bod slip into the abyss and there was not a thing I could do about it.
Last month the arm was strong enough I could start doing lower body. Not tough enough to take weight for upper body, but strong enough for lower.
[You cannot do one armed upper body you end up with uneven breasts. Uneven breasts are bad.]
This month I could start doing upper body. I do not have full rotation back. But I have some power back. And I have been killing myself here working out telling myself, It will come back it will come back it will come back….
Today.
Five pounds down one inch off the waist.
Yes!
The bod is coming back!
