I was at this party —

Talking about guys [I know that comes as a shock] when someone said, What is a crush?

This was a funny question to me my whole life people have been talking about crushes but maybe that is a U.S. thing so I came up with a definition and someone else came up with a definition and pretty soon there were a whole bunch of different definitions for “crush” and very few of them were the same. Some sounded like love, some sounded like passing infatuation, some were long term, some were short, some were unreciprocated, some love affairs that could not be consummated —

Then I threw straight girl crush and straight guy crush into the ring and half the people had never heard of that [they are running in the wrong circles, or I am, jury is out] and —

It is real clear “crush” is a common term used by a whole hell of a lot of people, but also that it means a whole hell of a lot of different things to a whole hell of a lot of different people. How confusing is that?

The other day —

I heard a man on the television say men would not cheat if there weren’t so many women willing to be there for men to cheat with.

This was on a talk show and a whole bunch of women in the audience nodded saying, “Yes, yes.” Like the whole answer to men cheating was [those bitches!] other women.

This is kind of stupid to me. Of course, if a man is going to cheat, there needs to be someone alive and willing for him to cheat with. [Do not always assume it is another woman either guys cheat with guys just fine.] Just like, if a person is going to over eat, there has to be food there for someone to eat. But I do not see anyone blaming the food: “Yeah, he wouldn’t have eaten that breadstick if there weren’t so many breadsticks that were so damn willing.”

6:30 in the morning. I have been working all night. My wrists are toast. And I did not get to play Vampire Wars once Friday.

me & the white rug

 

I just —

Got out of the bath. I am all spring time fresh. And would be naked except for the voluminous robe. But I am barefoot.

Whenever I am barefoot I make right for the white rug.

The white rug is this shaggy wonderful white rug made with sheep’s fur that feels wonderful curling in your toes. I love this white rug. It was such an extravagance when I got it and one of the best extravagances I ever did. It makes me happy any time it touches my bare toes.

One day a delivery man walked on the white rug with his shoes. No one wears shoes in my place. It is a rule. Only delivery people because, well delivery people are not staying. But they are not allowed to walk on the white rug.

That guy was in so much trouble.

looking for religion

 

I watch —

Way too many cop shows. They freak me out. And too many medical shows. I am totally freaked if I die some stranger will go through my financial records while another interviews old boyfriends while another is cutting my chest open and yet another is running tongue swabs or [worse!] vaginal swabs [fresh motherfucker!] —

I must find a religion that says you cannot put me on a slab naked anyone in crime division can get a gander at for fun sport or as a work requirement.

susan is gunning for me

 

Yesterday —

I pulled a hamstring just walking. Then, unimpressed enough with that unfounded injury I fell on the stairs.

Clearly Susan is gunning for me.

Falling on these stairs is really stupid. They are hard concrete stairs basically designed to maim and impair. Most of the time I am even approaching them my head snaps to them before I even get to the first step no matter what I am thinking with the thought, These are dangerous stairs, pay attention.

The time I do not pay as much attention is when I go up the stairs. See, you always worry about nasty stairs when you are going down but it never occurs to you you would be stupid enough to fall on the stairs stone cold sober going up them.

Which I did.

Carrying a grocery bag.
